A compelling story of philanthropy and its community impact

Parks PR was proud to work with Dave Scheiber of Scheiber Stories to write the script for “Echoes of Generosity: From Legacy to Life”, a new documentary film produced by client Bishop-Parker Foundation in Bradenton.

The video documentary, which tells the story of philanthropists Ned and Patty Bishop and their adopted daughter Mary Parker, describes how the three made a huge impact on the quality of life in Manatee County, and how their legacy lives on with the work of the Bishop-Parker Foundation.

The film was shown for the first time at a Bishop Planetarium watch party on January 20, and is available online

The documentary traces how Ned and Patty Bishop came to then-sleepy Bradenton in the 1920s, how they formed a deep bond with Mary Parker, who first met them when she was an on-site nurse at their home, and how they were deeply involved in everything from philanthropic activities to boating to giving out the best Halloween candy in town.

Now, the foundation that bears their names helps the community with such initiatives as addressing food insecurity, promoting animal welfare, and finding new ways to help those in need in fast-growing north Manatee County.

Working on the project with Bishop-Parker Foundation CEO Wendy Deming (shown with Kyle Parks of Parks PR and Dave Scheiber of Scheiber Stories), our script set the stage for top-notch production work by the team at Manatee Educational Television.

The foundation is looking for opportunities to show the film out in the community, telling the story behind the names on facilities that are already well-known in town, whether it’s the Bishop Planetarium, the Bishop Animal Shelter, or the Parker Rehabilitation Habitat.
